The above chart, showing the labour force participation rate, is the lowest in 30 years. While the unemployment rate only counts the people that are looking for work the labour force participation rate gives a more accurate picture. This is corroborated by John Williams of Shadowstats, that estimates that the real unemployment rate is currently 23%
