Total Federal Obligations as Percent of GDP

While the current federal debt is approaching 100% of GDP the real problem is the unfunded liabilities for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.  When these obligations are added in, the real debt is in excess of 500% of GDP.  That’s around $500,000 per man, woman and child, or $2 million per family of four.
